Multimedia convergence

Multimedia stories are composed of different combinations of text, pictures, video clips, audio, etc presented in a specific non-linear format that is free of redundancy. If a story has text, audio, or video alone and is used as its major component, it is not considered a multimedia story- CNN is an example of this.

A video of journalist Brian Storm speaking about the necessity for good multimedia stories is as follows:

Multimedia convergence takes your average story to another level by providing the ability to add various data, boxes and graphics to enhance the story and give more background information on its topic.

The various types of multimedia stories are reporters, editors and producers.

Multimedia helps to further the journalism field and provide those who are looking to report a story with various levels of material.
